Attorney General Rio de Janeiro convicted of money laundering



A Rio de Janeiro state court on Friday, 8 convicted a former Attorney General Claudio Lopez and his accomplices Ana Beatri Crespo and Carlos Jardim Borges were convicted for money laundering involving the acquisition of several properties with money obtained through crime. The source of the fund has been hidden for long and the criminal case and other cases where Lopez appears are treated as confidential. The first trail of Lopez came up in 2016 when the Brazilian Police arrested the governor of Rio de Janeiro, and several others including Claudio Lopez, of which four of them were convicted of conspiracy and involvement in corruption crimes.
