Four suspects have been accused of participating in a large-scale theft and money laundering operation involving Walmart.
Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said 27-year-old Demetria Lewis, 22-year-old Dewayne Garner, 22-year-old Jasmine Lewis and 35-year-old Sandy McKay have been indicted in the alleged scheme that targeted stores in Middle Tennessee, Southern Kentucky and Northern Alabama.
The TBI said the four stole merchandise from Walmart and though an elaborate system, converted the value of the merchandise to cash.
The store estimates the group began the operation in November 2012 and has stolen more than $720,000 in merchandise.
