About 25 people have been accused of fraud of VAT relating to fictitious so-called carousel turnover, rapeseed oil. The prosecutor office in Katowice Marta Zawada-Bybek has submitted an indictment to the court on Wednesday, and the criminal is expected to appear in court soon. According to the investigation, the perpetrators are involved in generating fake invoices, certifying falsely in documents, money laundering and VAT fraud which has caused the state a loss of PLN 180. Findings revealed that the gang operated in Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia between 2011 and 2012, and were majorly involved in facilitating fake community acquisitions and goods delivery to extort VAT refunds. With their criminal activity, the criminal group has extorted VAT refund amounting to PLN 4 million and causing the public debt of a minimum of PLN 180 million. Most likely, the members of the gang will face 15 years in prison.
