The Council of Europe (COE)’s Economic Crime and Cooperation Division recently collaborated with the European Commission Directorate General for Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM) and Romanian authorities to organize an event to release Romania’s ML/TF National Risk Assessment (NRA).
The objective of the event was to present the findings of the NRA report to high-level officials in Romania. Importantly, this event presented Romania’s first ML/TF NRA process, conducted following COE methodology.
The participating institutions presented the main ML/TF threats identified in the NRA, with special emphasis on the threat of terrorism. Further, specific supervisory authorities summarized sector-specific ML/TF risks. Overall, the event encouraged all relevant authorities to continue the development of an AML/CFT Action Plan to address the ML/TF risks identified in the NRA.
