A total of 850 cases of corruption are under the CBI investigation, 14 of which are gathering dust for over five years, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) said today. Of the total cases, 500 are pending investigation for less than a year, 245 between one and two years, 61 for two to three years and 31 for three to five years, official data said.
The data was released at a press conference here by the CVC which exercises superintendence over the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in corruption cases. “There are 6,358 corruption cases pending trial in various courts, 178 of them for over 20 years,” it said.
