A house arrest order has been issued against Neapolitan orthopedist, Paolo Iannelli by the Judge for the preliminary investigations of Neapolitan Court. The order was issued in order to investigate a case involving fraudulent bankruptcy and bribery. A company attributed to Paolo, II Muletto, was also seized together with money and other goods valued at about 5 million euros in a preventive measure. The bankruptcy of Caca del Sole Spa led to the investigation being conducted by the specialists of Capital Market Protection Group of Economic-Financial Police Unit of Naples. The criminal activities allegedly resulted in the distractions of sums of money paid by the patients to the Casa del Sole for the services received which were transferred to current accounts in the name of Paolo.
A former employee got some money stolen from the Casa del Sole credited into his current account opened after his death and it was revealed that Paolo got the account activated with the complacency of two bank officials. The concussive activity carried out by the orthopedist towards representatives of the companies supplying medical devices and prosthesis shows additional flows of money in Paolo’s account. Meanwhile, for hijacking patients from the Cardarelli hospital of which he was Primary at the time, Paolo has been sentenced to 9 years imprisonment under the Criminal Section of the Court of Naples.
