The six-monthly report of the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate illustrated by the new director of operational section and deputy police chief; Giuseppe Maria Emiddio has shown the emergence of persistent organized crime specializing in the founding of imaginary money laundering companies. The crime is described as a ‘Ndrangheta who knows no boundaries”, a cankerworm that has eaten deeply into the fabric of the nation. The Ndrangheta has established a firm root in the Italian economy and it has projected itself as an entrepreneurial phenomenon, explained the head of Dia. The Ndrangheta has been believed to possess some supernatural character that has managed to pervade every region in Italy. Historical riches of crime derived from the trafficking of drugs are cleaned up by the paper companies and ghost companies that are now used to launder money. This can be seen in the four provinces of Catanzaro, Cosenza, Crotone and Vibo Valentia putting the historical family of Ndrangheta firmly in a firm position.
