Sequel to the directive of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to develop policies and comply with measures to combat money laundering, St. Kitts-Nevis Government has passed the Anti-Money Laundering (National Committee) Bill on January 23, 2020. The FATF is an intergovernmental organization installed to oversee financial activities in financial sectors worldwide. In an effort to combat financial crime, the St. Kitts-Nevis Government took the step and is expected to go through a one-on-one, on-site evaluation coordinated by the Carribean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) experts in March 2020. According to the Attorney General and Minister in charge of Justice and Legal Affairs, Honourable Vincent Byron, the FATF has developed a number of recommendations accepted as the international standard for fighting money laundering, and we are therefore, setting up a committee that will get up prepared for the assessment scheduled for March.
