From 2018, the number of reported cases reported to law enforcement agencies has been on the rise in Switzerland. The figure rose for 6,126 in 2018 to 7,705 in 2019. In the same 2019, the total amount of assets that are suspected to be linked with money laundering amounted to $13.2 billion. And there were 114 suspected cases on terrorism. The assets are in connection with suspected fraud or corruption offences. Most of the reports recorded were made by banks and other payment service providers. On the contrary, reports from assets managers, trustees, lawyers, and notaries have not witnessed a significant increase.
Out of the 114 suspected cases of fraud, only 13.4% reached the judicial authorities. 35% of the reports was facilitated by the newspaper reports, 24% from transaction monitoring, and 19% of information from third parties. Already, the office launched a new online system for submitting reports.
