Eleven people have been charged by Organized Crime Squad with $3 million worth of drugs seized as part of the investigations into a Sydney-based organized crime syndicate. During a stop and search operation on the Pacific Highway, Heatherbrae at around 11 pm on Friday 20 December 019, a total of 71kg of cannabis packed in various bags were discovered by the police. As part of ongoing investigations, officers from the North West Region Enforcement Squad executed a search warrant at a home on Vardys Road, Blacktown, on Wednesday 5 February 2020, where they located an elaborate hydroponic set-up and seized 152 cannabis plants. Acting on information received by strike force detectives, a 24-year-old man from Liverpool, NSW, was arrested by Queensland Police Service officers at Brisbane Domestic Airport on Wednesday 19 February 2020. Police allegedly found more than $175,000 in his possession.
Following further enquiries, a total of 456 cannabis plants, 22kg of cannabis head and $330,000 cash were seized in seven search warrants executed by strike force detectives at residential units and a storage unit in Liverpool, Bankstown and Lansvale and four crime scene warrants at homes in Revesby, Punchbowl and Yagoona from 7 am yesterday (Wednesday 25 March 2020) with the aid of Bass Hill and North West Region Enforcement Squads. A 20-year old Liverpool man was charged with supply prohibited drug and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity alongside another 21-year-old Liverpool woman who was charged with supply prohibited drug and participate criminal group contribute to criminal activity. They were all refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Thursday 26 March 2020).
Another 40-year-old Bankstown man was charged with 11 offences including supply prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, cultivate prohibited plant, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, and drive motor vehicle during the disqualification period. Also, another 37-year-old Bankstown man was charged with participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, take part to cultivate cannabis, and consume electricity without authority alongside a 20-year-old man from Bankstown who was charged with participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, take part to cultivate cannabis, and consume electricity without authority. The trio have been refused bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court today.
