The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Regional Office for Central Asia (UNODC ROCA), assists member states so they can strengthen their AML/CFT legal framework and policies. UNODC ROCA recently conducted an online meeting of experts with Kazakhstan judiciary’s Law Enforcement Academy.
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss a Professional Development System (PDS) for AML/CFT specialists. To train more AML/CFT specialists, the Law Enforcement Academy wishes to implement a pilot national PDS for Kazakhstan. During the online meeting, UNODC’s Global Program Advisor on AML/CFT, Fitz Roy Drayton, unveiled the pilot version of PDS.
Talking about the structure and technical requirements for such a PDS, Drayton discussed the significance of distance professional training of AML/CFT specialists in the COVID-19 era. UNODC and the Academy also talked about the next steps to promptly continue the implementation of the national PDS.
