Just before the allegations of money-laundering and marriage frauds against the wife of the Zimbabwe Vice President lady Marry Mubaiwa, news had it that she attempted forcing the sick vice president, Constantino Chiwenga out of the hospital without the consent of his security officers but was stopped just before leaving the hospital.
A court in the capital of Harare on Monday has alleged the 38-year-old Zimbabwe vice president of attempted murder on her husband, marriage fraud, money laundering of up to $1 million including luxury cars and property after she was arrested last weekend. However, Mubaiwa denied the allegations as she waved at the onlookers while she entered the court. Regardless, she was not granted bail and the prosecutor stated that she could interfere with the witness.
Among several offences, Mubaiwa was also accused of attempting to obtain an upgraded marriage certificate through fraudulent means without the knowledge of her sick husband. Reuters reports stated that the couple were set for a divorce. As described by a former senior state department official in Africa, Todd Moss, the charges against Mubaiwa could be due to the marital crisis between her and the vice president, where the two are trying to use the law against each other
